TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION IN COOKERY CLASSES, PRIVATE EVENTS, OR ANY OTHER EVENTS BOTH ONSITE AND OFFSITE OPERATED BY SOPHIA LINDOP

By booking any class or event with Sophia Lindop you accept that you, or your company, have read, accept and are bound by the following terms and conditions.

Bookings, payments and cancellations

Interactive cookery classes:

For regular interactive cooking class open to the public, bookings can be made up until the day of the class, pending availability.

Payment is to be made by EFT in full by or before two weeks prior to the class. Sending proof of payment to sophia@sophialindop.com or 0826013226 will confirm your reservation.

In the case of a cancellation, Sophia Lindop requires a two weeks’ notice period in order to move a booking to another class. Should the cancellation be due to an unforeseen emergency, Sophia Lindop reserves the right to move the reservation to another day or to refund the client. If a cancellation is made within 2 days prior to the commencing of the class, no refund can be given as shopping and preparation begins two days before the event.

Private events:

Payments are to be made in full by or before two weeks prior to the event. Sending proof of payment to sophia@sophialindop.com or 0826013226 will con firm your reservation.

Recipes

Recipes of dishes prepared during cookery classes are handed to participants to take home with them for private household use.  These recipes, however, remain the intellectual property of Sophia Lindop and are protected by copyright which means that the recipe may not be copied, reproduced or adapted in any manner without the express written permission of Sophia Lindop. Any authorized use will constitute copyright infringement.

Alcoholic beverages

Interactive cookery classes:

Sophia Lindop supplies a few bottles of wine, still and sparkling water and juice at every cookery class. Guests are requested to bring a bottle of their own as well. Right of admission to any Sophia Lindop event is strictly reserved and any participant guilty of abusive behaviour as a result of too much alcohol will not be tolerated and said participants will be asked to leave the premises immediately.

Private events:

A welcome drink and glass of wine paired with each course will be included in the price per head unless specifically stated to  the contrary during the quotation process. Should the client require further beverages, Sophia Lindop offers the service of organizing more wine as well as other alcoholic beverages at cost price. Details regarding quantities and what is required will need to be agreed upon beforehand.

Participation

Guests must arrive at the time allocated for a cookery class or private event. Should participants not arrive on time, the class or event will commence on time and without them.

Participants must follow the food handling and hygiene procedures and all reasonable instructions issued by Sophia Lindop, especially regarding the equipment being used.

Each participant is responsible for advising Sophia Lindop at the time of booking of any food allergies. Dishes prepared during classes include potentially allergenic foodstuffs and any serious food allergies must be communicated about prior to the event. Sophia Lindop endeavours to accommodate food allergies but cannot see to everyone’s eating preferences. There is always plenty of food and guests with preferences will have ample to choose from.

Privacy

By agreeing to these terms and conditions you also agree to the Sophia Lindop Privacy Policy that can be found at (please insert website address / link).

Liability for loss

All guests to the venue are responsible for their own property.

Sophia Lindop will not be liable for loss of or damage to any property brought to the classes or events by any guest.

The cookery classes involve working with sharp knives and other potentially hazardous utensils, handling hot objects, operating stoves, ovens and other appliances and other activities generally associated with food preparation and cooking. Participants are warned that there is a possibility of an accident causing injury, death or property damage or loss from participation in the classes and preparation of dishes.

Indemnity

Participants indemnify Sophia Lindop, her employees and contractors against all claims, loss, damage, costs or expenses arising from personal injury or death sustained by a participant or anyone affiliated or connected with a participant, in connection with, or resulting directly or indirectly from any participant’s involvement in events with Sophia Lindop (including, without limitation, any allergic reaction as a result of preparation or consumption of the meals) regardless of the existence of negligence on the part of Sophia Lindop, her employees and/ or contractors.

Gift vouchers

Vouchers are valid for 1 year after issue by Sophia Lindop.
